Threads, reactions and mentions

Keep a conversation tidy and get someone’s attention.

• Threads: choose “Reply in thread” under a message to reply without filling the channel. Everyone in the channel can open the thread from the message.
• Reactions: hover a message and pick an emoji, or click an existing reaction to add yours.
• Mentions: type @ followed by their name with a dot between the words, for example @sam.staff (or the part of their email before the @). They get a notification and, if they are away, a short email summary.

A mention only reaches people who are in the channel you are writing in, so mentioning someone never reveals a private channel to them.
